"Boyz II Men" Experience- Aaron's First Official Blog

On July 19, 2008, my family and I spent the afternoon at Six Flags and attended the Boyz II Men Concert. Boyz II Men is perhaps one of most decorated and recognized R&B Groups of the 90s, amassing 4 Grammies and selling more than 60 million records over their career. Their greatest hits include, "Water Runs Dry", "4 Seasons of Loneliness", and my personal favorite "On Bended Knee".

Following the concert, I was able to meet with them personally and offer my thanks for their music. They were very approachable and gracious. I am sure that they had busy schedules and I am grateful that they made time for their fans.

The Silver Lining of Moving to Silver Spring

*This post is mostly for our family far away, I think most of our friends have already visited us. A BIG MAHALO to the EQ for helping us move (CJ, Scott, Tim, Coleman) and for carrying our heavy couch up 5 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS. And a big thank you to Trina for watching the kids while we moved boxes for six hours!*

When we moved from Bethesda to Silver Spring, our new apartment's management stopped by to welcome us and to drop off a gift - a steering wheel car lock! Aaron came to me clutching this gift with a wide-eyed look and said, "That's reassuring!" I had to laugh.

I remembered how back in Bethesda, a good friend and I laughed about one of our neighbors who used one of these locks in her car everyday. In Bethesda! Her car wasn't especially expensive or new. My friend, who will remain anonymous, joked: "Does she think she lives in the Ghetto?"

Maybe she moved from Silver Spring?

When my father heard about this generous gift, he said sincerely, "How thoughtful!" So, I guess there's always a silver lining.

Yes, we moved from center of convenience, friends and safety, but it's not so bad here either. We're close enough that Elise, Elijah and I can still have friends over to swim and play. Yay for the pool and for friends that come to visit us! (I remembered my camera! Good friends, Anni & Elizabeth, Tiana & Ellie)
We have an actual dining area. This table and chairs set was only $129 - we love IKEA!
We just got a plot in the community garden. I can't wait to start planting tomatoes and green onions and squash - I hope I'm not to late!
While our bathroom is a classy pink and black, (it's lovely with all our blue, don't you think?)

I like the sink!

My favorite thing about being on the 5th floor is all the light that pours in - even if it's at it brightest at 7:30 in the evening!
Aaron and I have an actual room - with two roomy closets!

And our kitchen is no longer a hallway!

While it took some getting used to, we're settling great!

The Nap Time Miracle Worker

First of all, thank you Tiana! She watched our kids for SIX hours yesterday so that Aaron and I could ecsort Erika and Bobby Hall through their first endowment session and then attend their sealing!! For some reason we thought we needed to be there earlier than we were supposed to so that's why she ended up watching our kids so long. We're so grateful that we were able to participate, it was a really uplifting and happy experience. They are so sweet and so in love.

We got home, hoping that our kids didn't drive Tiana and CJ crazy! To my complete suprise and delight, Tiana announced that she had gotten ALL 4 kids (hers and mine) to take a nap about the same time! I was so happy that she could rest a bit. Elise was really good at taking a nap for a while, but for the last couple weeks getting her to take a nap has been really inconsistent. That is why Tiana is a Nap Time Miracle Worker. : ) We are so lucky to have such great neighbors.
